Brake actuators and hydraulic units are, as it were, the "arm" and "muscle" of a brake while the electronic components form the "brains" of the brake system controlling the arm and muscle. The most intelligent of these "brains" is the HEY, the microprocessor- operated brake controller. It can process a number of input signals of different formats in order to generate the required braking functions. The HEY also performs wheel-slide protection for all wheels and axles which are equipped with brakes whenever corresponding speed sensors are connected. The HEY has a two-channel structure and is certified for compliance with SIL 2, offering maximum safety. The VSS valve control board and the NSE controlling electronics board perform less demanding tasks in brake management on an analog/one-channel microprocessor basis.The electronic semiconductor contactor can switch DC motors on and off with a power up to 1 KW without loss.
Brake control unit HEY-C was developed in compliance with the latest safety standards IEC 61508 and CENELEC series EN 50-126, -128, -129 and is certified for compliance with SIL3. The number of inputs and ouputs can be increased via the respective integrated CAN, MVB or Ethernet bus. Project-specific adaptation is via the software.
